Active Hike

Once you have arrived in Wadi Rum, we will get organised and I will introduce you to your guide for the day. When you are ready you will head into the Canyon on foot with your guide. Or if you want the hike to finish in the village you will head into the desert by Jeep to the start of the hike.

This 2-3 hour hike takes you through a high canyon through Jebel Um Ishrin from or to Rum Village. The view down to Rum Village is unique and there are many interesting things when inside the canyon to see along the way. This is a medium to difficult hike, but we can guide you safely. This is not for you if you are afraid of heights. There are many short scrambles on this hike that are fun, expect to get dusty!

This tour can be done in either direction and can be combined with various other hikes and tour options. If this hike is taken alone, you will need a jeep transfer at one end to the start of the hike or to Rum Village or camp at the end of the hike, as you need.

Prices:

Bedouin Guide: 50JD (maximum group p. guide: 10 people).

If this is not being combined with a longer tour you also pay for a jeep transfer (to the camp or to the village): 15D

Please note you can also hike from the camp to Rum Village, across the Wadi (approx 3 hours direct). This can be done with a Bedouin Guide for an extra 30JD. If you would like lunch included, please add 5JD p.p

Children who are used to hiking and are in active families can manage this hike, but it is not an easy hike so they should be used to this kind of activity before you consider attempting it. As this hike is a canyon hike, it is more difficult to stop and go back if you are struggling, so please be honest about your experience and fitness level when considering this hike.

Timings

For this hike 2-3 hours is needed plus a jeep transfer to the Camp/Rum Village. The Jeep transfer to the Camp takes 30 minutes, the jeep transfer to Rum Village 10 minutes.

If you do this hike after spending a night in the Camp you would finish in the village at approx 11am-12pm.

If you want to do this hike in the afternoon, then taking a Jeep to the camp at the end of the hike you would need a minimum of 3.5 daylight hours available.

Or the tour can be taken in the morning on your arrival day starting from Rum Village and can be combined with a jeep tour.

It can also simply be taken as a hike that starts and finishes in Rum Village. For this option you need a minimum of 3.5 daylight hours available.
